Mas de Games to Mas de Vers

This was the lovely house that I had all to myself last night.  Dinner, once again, was excellent. I started with a bowl of broth with a slightly greenish tinge.  Evidently, some vegetable was involved but I am not sure what.  It was very tasty.  Next, I had a slice of paté which the madame of the house proudly told me that it was homemade. It was delicious.  I put most of it in my baggie for lunch today and it was even better today.  My main course was sausages with the best scalloped (?) potatoes in the universe.  I will dream about those potatoes. They were bubbling with cheese and I ate every bit of them.  Most of the sausage went in another baggie for lunch.  Very low on food for my backpack.  Dessert took my breath away. It was a (flourless?) rich chocolate brownie/cake, served warm with a scoop of freshly made ice cream.  The brownie was that degree of doneness where the soft chocolate oozed out.  Then I slept for ten hours.  Talk about sweet dreams!

Here are the two peeping hens and they followed me to the edge of the property just cackling away.

About two miles away was the town of Limoge en Quercy.  Hallejuah! A grocery store.  I bought two packages of sliced cheese, one bottle of Coca-cola zero and an apple.  Who knew that little amount would add so much weight to my backpack.  Then I went to a bar and had a cold Coca-cola light.  Found an ATM machine and got money which was also getting very light. Finally, I went into the church and thanked God I had found some supplies.

The church was plain but had some beautiful stained glass windows.

On the trail again.  If you look closely, there are two French girls ahead of me.  I passed them and then never saw them again.

Does anyone remember the Hey Culligan Man ads of the sixties and seventies?  Somehow Hey Culligan Monsieur just doesn't have the same snappy sound.  I guess you have to be a certain age to remember them.

This was a house.

The sky really started looking stormy. The wind began to blow and the temperature dropped.  I was sure I was going to get drenched.  It rained about ten drops, quit and I made it to my Gite (Refugio) without getting the least bit wet.

I loved the sign with the Pellerin walking across the countryside.

A threesome.  The one in the back was completely white with a black face.  His was natural though.

I went into this little church.  Notice the shell above the two doors.

I thought the rose window was very pretty and unusual.  Right after I left the church I encountered a dog that was just glaring at me and not wagging his tale. I stopped but he didn't approach me.  I had to get really close to get by him.  I started talking sweet baby talk to him and he still glared, no tail wagging.  I had to hitch up my big girl panties and just walk by him not meeting his eyes. I turned around a half a block later and he was following me.  Eventually, he turned around and went home. Whew.

Look!  I was quick enough to get a photo.  His partner leaped across the road in front of him and so I was able to photo the second one.

I reached my Gité and across from my room is this fellah.  Isn't he cute?  He was braying for all he was worth when the owner walked by.  Pami Green should love him. Gités usually have dorm-like rooms but this one had some very nice private rooms also. Even though I have my own room, I will be sharing a communal dinner. It will be interesting to see who is there.

Today was 15.7 miles and it was only supposed to be 13.6.  That last two miles were long. My blister on my right little tow was annoying me and my pulled muscle in my left calf was aggravating me.  Lucky, the tendonitis seems to be under control.  Other than that it was a perfect day on the trail.

Until tomorrow!
