Torside to Diggle 4/23/25

I wasn't sure if I would be able to hike today. My right knee was giving me fits by the end of yesterday's hike. I finally decided to hike the first mile and then decide. I could always turn around and go back. One mile became two, and two became three. I rummaged around my pack and found something I could tie around my knee for support. It helped quite a bit.

Pennine Start.

Aren't they so cute?

A memorial for Harry, a man who hiked these trails for over sixty years.

A family of sheep was blocking the trail. I wasn't worried, except I had parents with two babies. They kept backing up, but they didn't seem scared. I finally stepped into the brush, and they ran by.

There were a ton of ups and downs today. I clocked in at about 20 miles.

A thin trench for a trail.

Stunning scenery.

There were no places to stop for a Coke Zero. A good portion of today's walk was through bogs. Mushy!

This trail was very narrow; if you stumbled, it was a long way down.

Looking across the beautiful valley.

Lots of rocks to stumble over. Not an easy trail for foot placement.

Another summit.

This doesn't look so steep or long, unless you can see the tiny hiker at the top.

I had to cross over many streams today.

Ever the optimist, crossing the little bridge gave me hope for some flatter land. NOPE, not yet.

He didn't cross my path.

Dinner was excellent. I ordered a cheese and onion pie. It came with beans and the best crisps (fries) I have ever tasted. They were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, with such flavor. Definitely not your boring frozen spuds, so often served in the USA.

On the last page of the menu was the dog menu. It gave me a chuckle.

I am out of energy, totally pooped.

Good night and God bless!
