Bonjour! It will undoubtedly be a short blog today.
I walked the round trip of about three and a half miles to visit the supermarket. I needed a few supplies. I like to go to foreign supermarkets to just see what they stock. This one was huge, so I wandered around for quite some time. They have a few of the same products as we do but, so many different jars and packages especially in the chocolate aisle.
This afternoon, I made a trip to the pâtisserie. Of course, I only did it for the blog. I have to have something to write about. Ah, the sacrifices I make.
This time I chose a walnut pastry. The filling was similar pecan pie, but slightly denser with more brown sugar flavor. Marvelous. I felt obligated to eat the whole thing to make sure it was worth writing about.
I chose the same salad as last night and it was just as good. My other choice was the gizzard salad. Still, ah - no. I love fried chicken livers but I don't want them in a salad. We have a restaurant in Louisville, one of my favoites that serves a salad with chicken livers and it is just not good.
My entree was Cuisse de Canard Confit. If you have never had duck confit, you haven't lived a full life. I am not so crazy about any other duck because unless you know what you are doing, it can be gamey. But confit is totally different. It tastes closer to the most tender, succulent pork you can imagine. This did not disappoint with its crisp coat ad moist meat. I left the driest bone they have probably ever seen. I had my dessert this afternoon so I am off to dream land. I ended up walking 5.4 miles today. Not nearly enough to compensate for all I ate.
Prayers for you all!
