Pola de Allende Day Off

I know I said that might not post today but I find that I have done school work all day.  This is a very tiny town which was probably good because I have relaxed all day (translate that is there is NOTHING here to do).  I am, however glad to off my feet and legs.

This appears to be a war monument of some sort but I could find nothing on the internet and since no one speaks English, I can't explain it but I thought it was a lovely monument.

The church was locked but I still appreciated its beautiful musical bells on the hour.

One of the big differences between Spain and the US is that while the Spanish people seem to have dryers, they still prefer to hang their laundry outside to dry.  I have seen clothes hanging on the most luxurious houses.

As I was walking around, there were the most enticing smells coming from somewhere and it turned out to be this panaderia (bread bakery).  the woman was gracious enough to let me take a photo.

Below is a sight that always makes me laugh.  Some of the peregrinos, very loftily come here determined to carry everything on their backs and let the Lord lead them.  Usually the second day there are all of these services available to carry your backpack for you.  It just seems smarter to be prepared.  I listened tonight (5:30 pm) to a number of people trying to book in to my hotel and it is full. And now they are on their cellphones, which didn't exist when the first pilgrims started.  Now they are panicked because the next town with a hotel is about ten miles or so away. Truthfully, if you wanted to be a true original pilgrim, you would come here with no money and make the journey based on the good will of people and the grace of God.  AND then you would hike it back.  So...so much for snobbery.

Adios for today and I will see you all tomorrow.  Vaya con Dios!
