Dennis and I went to the Santa Inglesia Catedral Basilica de Lugo. We wanted to see the Cathedral, say some prayers and have our peregrino passports stamped. The Cathedral was built in the twelfth century.
When we went to have our passports stamped, a very nice woman told us about the Cathedral. Above is the main altar and as you can see, over the top gilded. It is a special church because in the 15th century, by order of the Pope, the sacrament (the round gold thing, top center) is exposed twenty four hours per day.
Above is the ceiling over the main altar.
The two photos above are the sides of the main altar.
The church is dedicated to Mary Magdalene and this is her chapel. Many people were saying prayers just to her
This depiction of the last supper is on wheels and is used in parades for the religious holidays.
This statue of Jesus had real hair. I have never seen Jesus portrayed with real hair. And it was beautiful long wavy hair.
We went to the Museum - Museo Provencial de Lugo but I wasn't allowed to take photos of most of the areas but I was able to get a photograph of St. James. We topped today off with a fine dinner of steak with pepper sauce, salad, wild mushroom omletta and fries, all on the same plate. Was quite tasty! Adios until mañana.
