Hola! Greetings from Sunny Spain. 14.5 miles and ever so many steps. My Garmin watch has locked up on telling me to move and is buzzing away in our room. It is a stepper like a fitbit. I will have to allow it to run the battery down and then hopefully it will be okay. It has done this before. Although yesterday was Friday the 13th, my bad luck day has been today. It took me almost two hours to up these photos to the blog. Jeez ! Now I have forgotten anything I wanted to tell you a bout today.
We started with sprinkley rain when we left this morning. The scenery was so different in this part of Spain. It reminded me of Utah.
This was such a lovely shrine. I wish I could get things to grow in this shape!
Look at the beautiful snow at the top of the mountains. We were surrounded by mountains all day. I loved the contrast between the vibrant green and the snow on the mountains.
Yard art worthy of Kentucky.
Today we saw several cyclist on "the Way" We seemed to be on dirt roads more than actual trails which allows the bicycles to be on our trail rather than having to take the highway. As fast as the trucks whiz by, I would be nervous cycling on them. The French claim that the Spanish are the crazy drivers and the Spanish will tell you to watch out for those mad French drivers.
Beautiful scenery never gets old or boring.
I can never resist a tribute to Santiago.
Or a shell, the Camino Symbol.
The scenery in this mountain valley (?) was magnificent for as far as the eyes could see. If the vast plains of Kansas had a baby with the green in Ireland and was airdropped into Switzerland it would look like this. I wanted to to twirl around and sing "The Hills are Alive" but I didn't want to scare the other pilgrims.
These are fields of rape seeds used for Canola oil. They are so pretty and one of Spain's big cash crops.
So it was a sunny day by the time we finished. It went from mid thirties when we started this morning to low sixties when we finished. I have worn two years off my hiking clothes taking them on and off. Well I didn't take all of them off, just the outer layers. Didn't want to scare the other pilgrims.
For all you people who love peeps, the ones on he right were about six inches high. Wonder what would happen if you put those in the microwave?
I had a lovely visit at the very famous cathedral here but I CANNOT get the photos to upload so you will hear about it tomorrow. Love to you all!
