Caldas de Resi to Padrón 11/12/25

What a day!  It poured rain all day.  I was tempted to take an Uber from one hotel to another, but when I looked, there was no one available, so off I went into the downpour. I didn’t even think about taking out my phone to take photos. On some of the roads, the water was ankle-deep.

After about four or five hours of hoofing as fast as I could walk, I stopped at a bar, soaking wet, hungry, and thirsty. I was soaked to the skin and teeth-chattering cold. I ordered the Tortilla Española, a potato and egg concoction, available everywhere in Spain.  This one was really good.  I watched the weather for a while, and it wasn’t getting any better. In fact, flash flood warnings were issued. Still, no Uber drivers were working, and I didn't blame them, so the bartender called a taxi for me.

I had an included dinner tonight, and one of my choices for the starter course was Pimientos de Padrón.  I AM in Padrón, after all. They happen to be one of my favorite dishes in Spain.  I ate most of them.

I wasn’t hungry when this huge entree came.  I had Hake, which was so light and flavor-filled.  It was topped with a butter sauce, which must have had a sprinkling of cheese.  It was accompanied by a mixta salad, which always has corn, and this one had lots of green olives.  YUM!  The plate had a massive pile of hot, crisp fried potatoes.  It didn’t even look like I made a dent in this plate of food when I finished.  Usually, I carry a baggie with me so I don’t offend the restaurant, but tonight I didn’t have it.  Too bad - there would have been some happy cats.

I had already ordered dessert, so I had to woman up and eat some (all!) of it. Another one of my Spanish favorites.  Usually, it is ice cream layered with chocolate, but this one was mocha ice cream, with thin layers of sponge cake and frosted with vanilla ice cream.  What is not to like about ice cream?

In fact, it is 10:00 PM and still raining.  Boo!

I bid you Good Night and God Bless!
