I had another wonderful dinner last night at my hotel, high on the mountain. It started with incredible French onion soup. Full-bodied beef broth made it rich and delicious. My second course was pickled green beans and a slice of paté. Not so crazy about this particular paté (went in my cat baggie) but I loved the green beans. The main course was three slices of very tender pork (two went in Jeanne's lunch on the trail bag), accompanied by homemade pasta with marinara sauce. There was something different, in a very good way, about this marinara. I am guessing the addition of yellow bell peppers but I am not sure. As I was finishing my entre, 4 people from my last hotel showed up. I arrived at about 4:30 and they got there at 7:30, panting and gasping. The looked muddier than I did when I had arrived at the hotel. Of course, I had time to clean up before dinner. They are a family from England, somewhere near Bath. I knew they were a family because one son looked exactly like him and the other one looked exactly like her. Very, very nice people.
For breakfast this morning, we were each served a yeast donut filled with warm chocolate filling. The French sure love chocolate. And it is chocolate extrodinaire.
I woke up to quite a surprise this morning. Snow!
Couldn't resist this photo of the door. Mary will love it.
Snow on the trees It snowed big floaty flakes for the first two hours of my walk. Breathtaking. There is something so quiet and peaceful about walking in the woods in the snow. I wasn't really cold except for my fingertips but I had on all of my warm clothes.
The trees and bushes were sparkling with snow and when the sun hit, it looked like an ice palace.

One of the more unusual crosses that I have seen.
Down lower, it rained instead of snowing. Hard to believe that it could be this green just a few miles later.
Today was filled with many ups and downs. There didn't seem to be a flat spot for the whole day.
It was so scenic that I almost didn't mind the ups and downs. Almost. Pant Pant Gasp Gasp!
I had to take photos with my phone today....never as happy with those. I was having trouble with the zoom and I couldn't get it to work on my camera. When I got to my hotel, I sorta thumped it and now it is working. Hopefully, it stays working. I hate taking photos with my phone.
Look at this beautiful house. I love these tile roofs. They are litke many little silver saucers.

After 14.9 miles I was ready to get to my hotel. This was the last stretch of the trail.
This town, Conques is touted as being the prettiest town in France. It is really beautiful, terraced down the side of a mountain. There is no grocery store and I have been struggling to find supplies.
Right before my hotel, this lazy bum was sound asleep. He cocked one eye at me and promptly went back to sleep. No amount of pleading would make him raise his head so I could get a photo of his face.
So I am crazy about my hotel and I have a day off tomorrow. Whoohoo! There is an enormous church/Cathedral plus many little boutiques. Mostly I am glad to give my knees and legs a break.
