Radicofani to Ponte a Rigo and back

I knew I was supposed to have a short day but it certainly didn't turn out quite as I expected. My day was exactly 10 miles.  But just like the previous days, I had exquisite scenery.  tThis is the castle looking back on it and you can see the city below.  My hotel was at the extreme left of the buildings.

Interesting cliffs.

The first sheep I have seen on the walk although sheep cheese (say that 10 times quickly and you will sound like an Easter chick,  "cheep, cheep") is very popular and well known in this area.

My favorite kind of sign! This was at Ponte a Rigo and it seems that the bar is the whole town.  I knew I was there too early to call my accommodations.  I was supposed to call for a pick-up because the farmhouse was way off the trail.  So I hang around the bar long enough to cause suspicion.  I did have a fabulous sandwich on incredible home-baked bread. Then I heard my phone ring.  Who the heck would be calling me?  I realized it was Camino Ways, the company who booked my hotels.  I answered and it appeared they had a snafu.  My farmhouse had cancelled (months ago?) so they had rebooked me in the same hotel that I stayed in last night. They sent a taxi to where I was and drove me back to Radicofani.  I even have the same room.  Tomorrow they will collect me and drive me back to Ponte a Rigo to resume my journey.  Not the worst screw-up ever.  My luggage came ten minutes after I was back at the hotel.  So although I visited these churches yesterday (and again today), I had too many photos to post yesterday so you get them today.

This is the main church, Canto pui Bello and what is so fascinating are the altars.  They are a sparkling blue, like nothing I have ever seen on an altar in any church.  Truthfully, it looked like the metallic paint on cars of by-gone years.  In Kentucky blue, no less.

And this is a smaller church almost across the piazza.  I couldn't find a name on it anywhere.

It had the same unusual metallic blue background. It shimmers like the scales on a mermaid.  Unfortunately, it doesn't show up as well in photos.

I have taken so many cat photos on this journey.  I don't post them all (even close).  I don't want it to be the cat blog.  LOL. You all know I am rather fond of my feline friends.  This guy was my favourite photo op.  Look closely...he has two different color eyes.  I first thought maybe he was a Maine Coon like our adorable CharlieMayne and MaggieMayne but he doesn't have the ear tufts.  He was quite a large Tom weighing in at maybe 20 pounds.  Beautiful and he was kind enough to pose for me.

SO I certainly hope you are having a wonderful day.  Caio!
