Since the pass was closed, I elected to walk down where we changed from the regular bus to the little bus. (Not the same as the short bus!) This is truly the land of waterfalls.
Waterfalls and high peaks
I have seen this poster several times, and I love that it is a Dad and a daughter.
I don't think there are any real bears left, but this still seems to be the land of bears. Bern means bear, and Bern is the Capital of Switzerland.
Rushing water!
A marker for the bus route.
There were two of them but I couldn't get the other one to look up. I took this photo just for Pami Green Lesley.
Still walking. My decision to walk where I could catch a bus to the train station was about eight miles. It was a good eight miles but seemed less because it was mostly flat or downhill. Then I had a bit of a panic. When I left, I asked my hotelier how much it cost to take the bus to the train, and she said she thought about 25 Swiss francs. I got to the bus stop and started counting my remaining cash. I had a ten Swiss franc note and enough change to bring it to almost twenty-three Swiss. The first bus I thought was the correct one was not the right one, and I couldn't make the driver understand that I just wanted to know how much the fare was. I waited for the bus and almost missed the correct one because I desperately tried to find extra coins at the bottom of my pack. There was no ATM. Turns out the fare was $5.40. Whew!
One of the first things I saw when I got off the train was this pretty church. Unfortunately, it was locked.
This is the Hotel Victoria. Pretty magnificent.
Another beautiful chalet.
The mountains in the distance.
My gorgeous hotel - the Hotel Bernerhof. My room is beautiful, and I have a balcony overlooking the mountains. Oh, and did I say that I have a very deep bath tub. The things you appreciate the most when you are hiking!
My view from the balcony.
As I still had too much energy, I walked around the town, up to the mountains, and all around. All total, I walked 15 miles. This guy made me laugh.

Dinner was incredible.
I started with a beaker of excellent Swiss wine and a salad. There were little scoops of other types of salad, such as curried corn, coleslaw, and red cabbage slaw, but the lettuce with the white French dressing was my favorite.
A scrumptious barley soup heavily flavored with smoked ham. Yum - yum - YUM!
My entree was an excellent bream filet, but the root vegetables stole the show. There were roasted carrots, turnips, rutabagas, and parsnips. I admit I have often traded my steak for vegetables, but these were exceptional. The green cup on top was green pea flan.
These are my friends Mailynn and Marshal. I have an extra night here but they leave tomorrow.
