Greetings from Sedona! What was the first thing we did? Of course, find some good food. We had lunch at René at Tlaquepague. I can pronounce René but not a clue how to pronounce Tlaquepague. The food was fabulous!
Rene' is a charming French Bistro.
I chose the Stuffed Acorn Squash which was brushed with Amaretto and roasted. It was stuffed with a medly of bell peppers, mushrooms and red cabbage and finished with macadamia nuts and goat cheese. Such a beautiful plating too...like art work.
Dennis had the Chicken Crepes which were cooked in Béchamal Sauce and finished with béarnaise sauce. Lip smacking good! Dennis let me try one bite!
On Christmas Eve we vwentured out for our first day of hiking. We tackled the Bell Rock Loop.
I wanted to climb to the top of Bell Rock which would have included some major scrambling, using your hands and feet to get up the big rocks. Dennis was afraid he would hurt his knee because he has already had surgery on it plus he is just a touch acrophobic. I started thinking that acrophobia is a good thing for a stockbroker. He needs to have his feet firmly planted on the ground. I sure wouldn't want my broker (and he is my broker) to be a daredevil, especially with my money. I climbed halfway up but I didn't want to leave Dennis waiting for too long so I scooted back down. If Dennis decides to take a day off, then I will go back and summit.
If you look closely, that little dot on top of the big round rock is a person.
This was a spectacular hike and I think there are many more to come!
Jeanne, what a memorable Christmas for 2020! As if we won't remember anything else about this year. Love reading your description of hikes and breaks, and oh, the food! I'm glad Dennis is with you.
