Buongiorno! Greetings from hot HOT Italy.
Typical Foccacia stan. They are, sold by the size of the piece. The woman lays her knife across a length of it, and then you say more or less. She weighs it to determine the final price. Yum!
Dennis and I had a wonderful dinner last night at this little restaurant. I am embarrassed to tell you that we picked it because it was open at 6:00 pm and most of the places didn't open until seven. We weren't disappointed because the food was excellent. I had spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and basil. Dennis had pasta with meat sauce. Both were top rate.
Hiking today was really hot towards the end. It wasn't quite as scenic as my Spain hikes. We walked 13.1 miles, and it should have been 11.1, but we got majorly lost. Those little red and white stickers are a bear to see. With the help of about ten people, we made it back to the trail Whew! Our first vineyard sighting.and the only time we were on a trail all day. We were on streets until about the eleven-mile point.
Too bad the trail markers aren't all this size. Then I would never get off the trail.
This is the symbol of the Camino via Francigena. Look what a cute little guy!
We saw numerous pomegranate trees. I wanted to pick one in the worst way but didn't want the homeowner to chase me down the street.
Although today was relatively flat, these mountains loom large. Every time I looked up to see them, I kept hearing the music from Jaws. Or maybe that was just because the Orchestra played all John Williams songs last Saturday night and the theme from Jaws was one of them.
It is a bit of a short blog today, and I didn't take very many photos. So hopefully, tomorrow will be more scenic.
Caio!
