Hola! The weather did not cooperate so I took the shorter route...15.3 miles and 35,301 steps. That includes a little walking around Sarria.
It was still mountains and mountain pathways. Plenty of uphill. I still think Spain is going to fall over. There is much more up than down. I wonder where all the downhill goes. The only thing that I missed today was the Monastery and the few extra miles that went with it. You can not go inside but if you are lucky you can get a guided tour. I wasn't feeling lucky when I looked at the weather report.
One of the more unusual shells I have seen. It was at least five feet across and had the perfect reflection into the pool.
Galacia is full of these stone houses with slate roofs. Sometimes they look so old and decrepit and then you see the inside and they are very nice. This, I think, was a barn but the houses and villages all look like this.
This was the look all day. It rained, mostly lightly but wet and sloppy none the less. Hard to get the camera out and take good photos.
The trees did provide some relief from the rain.
This fella was having a dickens of a time getting this mule to do where he wanted him to...he was acting just like a mule!
I walked around the town after I got here. I got to Sarria before noon and my suitcase didn't come until 3:30. I did a lot of window shopping and I know just how this girl feels. If you want to see things you either have to go before 2:00 or after 5:00 because they close everything during siesta.
Did I have a good time today? Hail yes. Just as I got to the hotel, there was a torrential downpour and light hail. Ever so glad I missed that. I woke up early this morning and left at 6:30 so most of the people probably got caught in the weather. I guess I was lucky after all. Or at least blessed.
