The Grand Hotel Kurhaus 7/6/24

Good morning. It was rainy and foggy all day. I planned a three-hour walk as a warm-up for tomorrow, but the weather was too dreary. So, I had a massage instead, and it was just what the doctor ordered. It made me aware of some bruises I cannot see on my back. The massage sure made my sore muscles feel better.

I am finding all kinds of bruises and scrapes now showing up.  I pulled the bandages off the most severe injury. While not pretty, it could be worse.  I have about an eight-inch scratch on the back of my left leg and a pretty good cut high on the back of my right thigh.  Both my knees and the entire inside of my elbow are pretty close to black. I look like I have been in a fight with something.

I knew I needed to buy some mini spikes for my hiking boots, but when I went to put on the boots to walk to the ski/hiking store, I found no boots.  NO BOOTS!  I couldn't believe it. I searched and searched, but no boots.  Then I remembered that the nice man removed my boots and put my feet in something warm. When I got to the hospital, they moved me to several locations. My boots are somewhere between the helicopter and the hospital.  I had my backpack and a plastic bag filled with wet clothes when I left. I wore my flip-flops from the hospital and never checked for the boots. It was impossible to return to the hospital because it would have cost more than the boots and would have to be taken all day.

So, I have some new boots.  I like them better than my old ones, so it was not a total loss.

I also bought some mini spikes, which I will put on the bottom of my boots when I have to cross a glacier. Don't ask me how much these two things cost!

My salad was enough for two or three people. It had incredible pickled vegetables that complimented the salad dressing with a hint of horseradish. I finally got my tomato fondue. Unfortunately, my photo didn't come out. It is about two-thirds cheese and the rest tomatoes. Tomato Fondu is different because you pour it over new potatoes. It still comes in a fondu pot with the fire under it. It is such a delight and so hard to find.

What is not to like about gelato?  The top scoop was a delicious pistachio, but the bottom scoop was an exquisite caramel.  I am stuffed to the gills.

Tomorrow, I head for another hut.  I am raring to go.  I am sending this out tonight so you won't get one tomorrow.  No internet.

Hugs and kisses to you all!
